Mercodia
Mercodia was founded in 1991 and develops, manufactures, and markets diagnostic kits based on ELISA technology, for clinical and research applications.
DiabetesInsulin is the principle hormone responsible for the control of glucose metabolism. Secretion of insulin is mainly controlled by the plasma glucose concentration and the hormone has a number of important metabolic actions. Insulin concentrations are severely reduced in insulin-dependent diabetes (Type 1 diabetes) and some other conditions such as hypopituarism. Insulin concentrations are raised in non-insulin dependent diabetes (Type 2 diabetes), insulinoma and in some types of endocrine dysfunction such as Cushing's syndrome and acromegaly. |
Cardiovascular DiseaseOxidised Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) is an atherogenic, plaque-specific protein directly involved in the initiation and the progression of atherosclerotic lesions. Plasma levels of oxidised LDL are markedly elevated in patients with angiographically proven coronary artery disease and it is now becoming clear that circulating levels of oxidised LDL are markers of coronary atherosclerosis. Apolipoprotein (a) is also being researched as an independant risk factor for atherosclerosis. ELISA assays are available for both analytes. |
Determining insulin, proinsulin and C-peptide in serum or in cell media serve as valuable tools in the efforts to find effective treatments for both Type I and Type 2 diabetes.
Insulin ELISAs, C-peptide ELISAs, and Leptin ELISA.
By using a combination of the Rat or Mouse Insulin ELISA together with the Human Insulin ELISA(0.7% rat/mouse crossreaction), rat or mouse insulin concentrations can be determined separately from human insulin in the same sample.
Rat Insulin ELISAs, Porcine Insulin ELISA, Ovine Insulin ELISA, Bovine Insulin ELISA, Mouse Insulin ELISAs, Canine Insulin ELISA, and Equine Insulin ELISA
Mercodia offers assays within cardiovascular disease with a focus on different mechanisms of the atherosclerosis process.
ELISA sequence assay, and ELISA simultaneous assay principles.
